Spend 12 days bird-watching in a variety of Ugandan habitats

Uganda offers a truly amazing variety of bird species -more than 355- to observe. This relaxing tour allows you to explore beautiful terrains, while also seeing many other land-based species.

DAY 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to SheratonKampala Hotel for an over night stay.

DAY 2: Depart for Kibale Forest via Mubende for a lunch stop over. Arrive at the Ndali lodge in the evening.

DAY 3: Spend a full day in Kibale Forest. Apart from an amazing bird population, it is also home to an astonishing 12 primate species and contains one of the highest densities of primates in the world. On a guided forest walk, you will likely see families of chimps and red colobus monkeys chattering and swinging through the ancient forest trees. As well, the birdlife is no less impressive; there are at least 335 species of birds, along with over 144 species of butterfly.

DAY 4: After an early morning walk in the Magombe swamp, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park for birding around Lake George and the Mweya Peninsula. Lunch at the lodge and take a launch trip on Kazinga Channel. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

DAY 5: Depart early in the morning for a game drive and later return to the lodge for breakfast. You can spend the rest of the day poolside and lunch at the lodge, or head out in the afternoon to visit to the Crater Lakes where you might possibly see flamingoes. Spend the night at the lodge.

DAY 6: Start out early for the drive to Ishasha through the Maramagambo-Kigezi area and lunch on the way. Arrive at lshasha in time for a late evening walk. Dine and stay overnight at the Ishasha Bandas Camp Ground.

DAY 7: Depart early morning for a game drive where you might see the rare tree-climbing lions. Travel to the dense Bwindi National Park,the richest forest in East Africa, which is home to the rare Mountain Gorilla as well as a treasure chest of flora and fauna. After bird-watching some more, head to to Gorilla Forest Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 8: Spend the entire day bird-watching in the forest and return to the camp.

DAY 9: Head out for a full day tour of Ruhija and the Mubwindi Swamp. Return again to the camp in the evening.

DAY 10: Leave after breakfast, drive towards L. Mburo National Park and stop over for lunch along the way. Here, the park’s lovely landscape is complemented by Lake Mburo self as well as four smaller lakes nested in beautiful, tranquil surroundings where you will see impala, eland, klipspringer, waterbuck, zebra and buffalo. Head to Mantana Tented Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 11: Enjoy another full day of bird-watching at Lake Mburo. After a picnic lunch, take a canoe trip in the afternoon to see the kingfisher, heron and other water birds. Your guide will keep you a safe distance from the hippos and crocodiles!

DAY 12: Relax in the morning then head to Kampala for a brief city tour and shopping. Later in the evening, head to the Entebbe airport for flight departures.
